FAQs
Can I test if I’m on hormonal contraception?
Yes, you will still be able to test if you are taking hormonal contraception or HRT, and we’ll ask you all about your current contraceptive or HRT in your Online Health Assessment.
Are there any hormones you can’t test on hormonal contraception?
Please be aware there will be certain hormones that we are unable to test, due to the influence of hormonal contraception or HRT. Unfortunately we would not be able to test your cycling hormones as these are affected by your contraception.
Can I still test AMH levels on hormonal contraception?
If you're on hormonal contraception, you can still test for Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Free T4 which will give you an insight into your ovarian reserve and general hormone health.
Whilst there is evidence that some forms of hormonal contraception can temporarily suppress AMH levels, this is highly dependent on the individual (for example, some people’s AMH level does not differ whilst on or off hormonal contraception). Testing your AMH whilst on hormonal contraception will still provide a great indicator of your fertility and can also highlight any underlying conditions affecting your reproductive health. This is why we still offer testing kits for people who are using hormonal contraception.
How long should I wait after coming off hormonal contraception if I want to test all my hormones?
If you want to test for all the hormones, we recommend waiting for 3 months or three cycles after coming off your contraception. This allows your hormones to revert back to their natural levels, to enable us to test them accurately.
If you want to test for all the hormones which would include your cycling hormones, , we recommend waiting for 3 months or three cycles after coming off your contraception. This allows your hormones to revert back to their natural levels, so we can obtain an accurate reading.
How is my bespoke hormone panel created?
Every customer will be assigned a bespoke panel of hormones that we will test after completing the Online Health Assessment, and this will be shown to you just before the check out stage, prior to you purchasing your kit. If you have any questions about your panel at this stage, please reach out to our customer care team, who will be happy to answer any queries you may have.
Please note: If you purchase a Standard Hormone Test or an Advanced Hormone and Fertility test, collect your sample and receive your results, we are then unable to provide you with a refund if you claim to have not understood which hormones we were able to test you for.
